If you have enamel erosion, then it’s best to treat it as soon as possible. If you ignore the problem, your enamel can continue to get weaker and weaker. Eventually, cavities can develop and affect the entire health and function of your tooth. To help you treat enamel erosion, our dentist, Dr. James Thomason, has some recommendations. Those recommendations are:

-Increase your fluoride exposure (Fluoride is a natural mineral that dives into the tooth enamel and strengthens it. It can be found in fluoridated water, fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash.)

-Get a professional fluoride treatment (A professional fluoride treatment is stronger than any over-the-counter fluoride product. It can help you greatly by toughening up the enamel.)

-Keep up on oral hygiene (Make sure to brush, floss, and rinse regularly. But, don’t brush immediately after consuming something acidic. It’s best to wait 30 minutes.)

-Visit your dentist regularly (Attend your checkups every six months.)

-Consider a dental bonding treatment (This is necessary for more extensive enamel erosion.)

-Consider dental veneers (This is necessary for more extensive enamel erosion.)
